Kids class in session, with children of different ages and an instructor on the mats with them.
Your child learns to fall and get back up, to measure their own strength, and to follow a rule that still counts at home. Twice a week, no screens and no audience, with an instructor on the mats next to them, at both RT locations in Vero Beach.
After you fill out the form, someone from our team will reach out to set the day and time.
The first class doesn't look like a fight. It looks like learning how to fall safely, how to get back up, and how to shake a hand before and after. An instructor stays with the new students the whole time.
Your child doesn't need a Gi, experience, or any conditioning to start. Comfortable clothes are enough.
No cost, and nothing to sign to take part.
The kids program runs in twelve week cycles, and what each week covers is set before the cycle starts. In practice that means on any given Tuesday you can ask what your child is working on and get a real answer.
Alongside the technique there is a second track that has nothing to do with technique: four behavior colors, one worked on every two weeks. Each color has a rule for the mats and a rule for home. When your child completes all four, they earn a stripe on the belt.
A child receiving a stripe on the belt, or the board with the four behavior colors inside the academy.
The rule for home is the part that follows your child out the door. What they work on here on Tuesday still counts in your kitchen on Wednesday.
After you fill out the form, someone from our team will reach out to set the day and time.
Nobody enrolls a child so they can learn to fall on the floor. You enroll for what is left of it the rest of the week. That is what the program works on, and this is how it works:
Class is built out of trying, missing, and starting over, dozens of times, with someone right next to you. A child who does that twice a week slowly builds another way of reacting when something doesn't go the way they wanted.
In Jiu Jitsu there is no training with a partner without regulating how hard you squeeze and paying attention to how the other person is doing. It's the opposite of learning to hit: it's learning to control.
There is no phone and no scoreboard on the mats. What they compare themselves to is what they themselves were doing last month, and it's one of the few hours of the week where that's the comparison.
Every behavior color has a rule for home: clean up after yourself, answer the first time, speak kindly to yourself. It's the part of the program that happens in your kitchen.
None of this comes from one class. It comes from showing up, and it takes months. We would rather tell you that than promise you a different child in thirty days.
Start with the first class and see the academy from the inside before you decide anything.
Classes run at 9 and 10 in the morning, Tuesday and Thursday, so your afternoon and your evening stay yours. The families in that time slot see each other every week, and that is how your child gets a steady group of friends instead of one more activity on the calendar.
The Step Up For Students line, if the academy can say publicly that it accepts the scholarship.
Morning classes run Tuesday and Thursday. Tell our team on the call that this is your time slot.

Master Renato teaching or correcting a student on the mats.
The person teaching your child was trained by someone who learned directly from Carlson Gracie. Master Renato Tavares has been training Jiu Jitsu for 52 years, 31 of them as a black belt, and he is a 6th degree black belt under Carlson Gracie Sr.
He leads both locations. That lineage is where RT's way of teaching comes from: the detail somebody corrects in your child's first week comes out of five decades of doing this.
Two in Vero Beach, ten minutes apart. Same curriculum and the same Master Renato leading both. What changes is the address, the schedule and who is on the mats.
